Abel Prize

I was known to Nobel Prize and areas of contribution where it is rewarded but came across with Abel prize so thought to write about the esteemed Prize.

The Abel Prize was established on 1 January 2002. The purpose is to award this Prize for outstanding scientific work in the field of mathematics. The prize amount is 6 million NOK (about 750,000 Euro) and was awarded for the first time on 3 June 2003.

Almost twenty mathematicians rewarded with this prize but Karen Uhlenbeck is the first woman to win the Abel Prize for 2019 for her pioneering achievements in geometric partial differential equations, gauge theory and integrable systems, and for the fundamental impact of her work on analysis, geometry and mathematical physics.”

It is a great pride and source of inspiration for all of us around the world. The recognition of her achievement is her great and hard work contributed in the last 40 years and still continuing with it for different researches in mathematics.
